We are an intermediary between local car rentals and people who want to rent a car in Puerto Rico. We do not own the cars promoted here, we are not an insurance company or a car rental company. We are the marketplace for local car rentals. When you book a car, you are renting it to the car rental, not to us.
When youâre booking the car on CarRentals787, you just need a debit or credit card. At the rental counter, youâll need:
Your driver license
Your passport (sometimes)
Your confirmation email
The main driverâs credit card (some rental companies also accept debit cards, but most donât).
Most car rental companies will rent you a car if youâre at least 21 (and some will rent to younger drivers). But if youâre under 25, you might still have to pay a âyoung driver feeâ.
Some hosts offer it, some donât. Make sure to click âExtrasâ when checking out to select the airport pick-up/ drop-off option.
The price you see includes the car rental, local tax, mandatory fees, airport pick-up and airport drop-off, insurance if selected, and other extras if selected. Security deposit, and others extras that, if they apply, are payable at pick-up. It doesnât include any extra cover or upgrade you buy when you get to the rental store.
Here are 3 ways to protect the rented vehicle.
1. Purchase a Carâs Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and a Renter Liability Insurance with the Car Rental.
2. Use your personal insurance. Proof of insurance will be required.
3. Use the credit card insurance. Renter must know if his or her credit card provides insurance in Puerto Rico and must know the terms and conditions. Most of the credit cards offer secondary insurance. However, we are not an insurance company, ask your host for better information.
Accidents and vehicle theft arenât something we like to think about, especially on a trip, but they can happen even to the most experienced and careful driver. Remember that, as the renter, you are liable for all parking and moving traffic violations, both domestic and international, so please drive safely and observe all ordinances.
If the car is stolen or has been involved in an accident, first call the local police or appropriate law enforcement agency. Next, call your host where the car was rented and explain what has happened. Youâll be led through the procedure to get you going again.
